Minister for Railways Shaikh Rashid Ahmed has presented his plans of combating unemployment by saying that over 150,000 people will get employment under ML-1 project.
He said that the railway track was constructed during the British rule in 1861, and now for the first time, new railway track is being constructed. Shaikh Rashid said that he has started three trains in Sindh while Lahore-Karachi Jinnah Express has been started recently. He said presently 70 million passengers are traveling with Pakistan Railway, and the present government is trying to take it to 100 million.
Addressing a gathering here, Rasheed said that he would not deny that the prices of medicines increased, unemployment and other issues persisted under the current government. “I have faith on Allah that Imran Khan will resolve all these issues,” he said.
Earlier Pakistan and China have agreed to amend a framework agreement on implementation of multibillion dollars mainline-I project of the Pakistan Railways in a bid to reduce the size of the much-delayed strategically important scheme and to complete it in three phases.
