According to a spokesperson for the National Institute of Health (NIH) confirmed that the Brazilian and South African variants of coronavirus have been detected in Pakistan.
As per to details, The spokesperson said that both variants of COVID-19 were found in samples the NIH received for testing, raising fears that these strains with a higher mortality rate could put a variant on the country’s already overwhelmed health facilities.
He further added that they were continuously monitoring different coronavirus variants, “The national health ministry and the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) have their eyes on various variants of the COVID-19,”
The spokesperson while emphasizing that following SOPs is the first line of defence, He also urged people to adhere to health guidelines, including wearing masks and social distancing, to keep the deadly disease at bay.
