A 3-storey residential building collapsed early Monday (Feb 25) morning in the metropolis’ Jafar-e-Tayyar neighbourhood in Malir.
Around 35 and 40 people were trapped under the rubble and five people have been rescued, including a woman and a child. Rescue services and authorities rushed to accident scene to provide medical and rescue services.
Pakistan Army personnel took over the rescue efforts and surrounded the site of the collapse. Heavy machinery was summoned to the site to aid in the efforts. Taking notice of the incident, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail directed the city commissioner to speed up rescue efforts and save human lives at all costs.
