In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their unabated acts of state terrorism martyred 34 Kashmiris including a young boy during the holy month of Ramadan from May 7 to June 4, 2019. According to the data issued by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service, of those martyred three were killed in custody.
During the month, 497 people were critically injured due to the firing of pellets, bullets and teargas shells by Indian army, paramilitary and police personnel on peaceful demonstrators in the occupied territory. 137 civilians including a woman were arrested.
The killings rendered 4 women widowed and 10 children orphaned. The troops molested at least 5 women and damaged and ransacked 39 houses in 303 cordon and search operations during the month of Ramadan.
Meanwhile, senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, in a statement in Srinagar said that the unresolved Kashmir dispute was the main cause of sufferings of the people of occupied Kashmir. The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party in a statement in Srinagar expressed serious concern over the plight of illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists particularly those languishing in New Delhi’s infamous Tihar Jail including its Chairman, Shabbir Ahmed Shah.
