An accountability court in Karachi on Friday (March 1) extended the physical remand of Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani till March 11 and handed him over to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Furthermore, Agha Siraj Durrani’s brother is also likely to be detained by the authorities, and he has filed a petition in the Sindh High Court (SHC) for protective bail.
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Feb 20 arrested Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani from a private hotel in three cases pertaining to illegal appointments, assets beyond means and embezzlement of funds. Sources said, “The decision to arrest Durrani was taken during a meeting in which NAB officials were informed that the PPP leader is currently in Islamabad.”
Last year in July, NAB had approved an inquiry against Sindh Assembly speaker Agha Siraj Durrani over various allegations of corruption.
