Two-judge division bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), comprising Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Aamir Farooq will hear the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s appeal in which he requested to declare his seven years imprisonment in Al-Azizia Steel Mills reference null and void, on January 7.
Earlier today, Nawaz’s counsel Munawar Iqbal Duggal submitted the former premier’s plea against his sentence for a third time after removing the registrar’s objections, in which he requested for bail of Nawaz Sharif.
An accountability court in Islamabad on December 23 sentenced the former prime minister to seven years in prison and a fine if Rs1.5 billion and US$25 million following Al-Azizia steel mills reference while he has been acquitted in the Flagship Investment reference. Nawaz shaif was shifted to Kot Lakhpat Jail on December 25.
