Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday (May 5) laid the foundation stone of the Al-Qadir University in Sohawa, aimed to impart modern education to youth on the basis of ideology of Pakistan.
PM Imran while shedding light on some of the main features of the university said that this will impart not only education in science and technology but also give them spiritual training. The Prime Minister said the university will produce scholars who will assume the leadership role and will counter the western influence and negative propaganda against Islam adding that University will give scholarships to 35% students and they will be given free education and accommodation.
Al Qadir University will focus on Science and Technology and contemporary studies of religion with emphasis on Sufism in order to revive Islamic research to educate youth in meeting future challenges. The university will function like other universities in private sector, contributing in national cause to broaden educational base.
Meanwhile addressing the groundbreaking of Al-Qadir University, Minister for Religious Affairs Pir Noor-ul-Haq Qadri said Al-Qadir University is a great step in line with the Imran Khan’s vision of making Pakistan an Islamic welfare state like Madina.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis & Human Resource Development Zulfikar Bukhari said “Prime Minister Imran Khan has a vision to transform Pakistan into a welfare state on the pattern of State of Medina and establishing such institutions to impart Islamic teachings to the youth showed his commitment in that regard”. “No university existed between Gujrat and Rawalpindi and therefore, Sohawa has been selected to establish Al-Qadir University to cater to the educational needs of youth in the area” Bukhari added.
