On Monday, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar administered the oath to the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Aleem Khan as provincial minister in a ceremony at the Governor’s House, Lahore.
Chief Minister Usman Buzdar was also present on the occasion. Aleem Khan will likely be given the portfolios of local government and food.
Earlier, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had accused Aleem Khan of being involved in corruption and corrupt practices by accumulating assets beyond known sources of income in Pakistan and abroad.
He remained in the office from February 7 to March 5, then was sent to pre-trial detention. He remained incarcerated for 73 days and was finally released on bail from Kot Lakhpat prison by the Lahore High Court on May 17. He resigned from his post as local government minister after the corruption watchdog arrested him.
