Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan on Monday (Jan 14) appeared before Supreme Court along with her lawyer Salman Akram Raja, in a case pertaining to illegal foreign assets. She denied all allegation for owing illegal properties in US and termed these allegations as untrue and groundless speculations. She alleged that a specific section of media was trying to give an impression as if she garnered wealth illegitimately.
While explaining her sources of income she said “I have been associated with the textile export business for 20 years. The business churned out Rs 2 billion that also helped the Pakistan economy”. She stated that she bought a property in Dubai through transfer of money via banking channels. I also got a loan from a bank in Dubai to purchase the property, she explained. “I served my life for the Shaukat Khanum Hospital” adding that “baseless and fake campaign has disheartened me.”
Earlier local media has published a report that after Dubai properties scandal, Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan owns over Rs450 million worth of property. Including three flats of a four-storey building in the heart of US state of New Jersey adding that she had not declared her American property till 2017. The property was reportedly bought for $0.758 million on August 5, 2004 with the Book 7355 having residential class and she bought this property with a 25% partnership of her friend Samina Sultana in the United States.
