The Supreme Court’s three-member bench led by chief justice Asif Saeed Khoosa, upheld Balochistan High Court Verdict of rejecting NAB appeal against the acquittal of the accused involved in the issuance of fake Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC). The apex court bench heard the bail plea filed by the NAB against the acquittal of accused Syed Ali Muhammad and Rizwan Aftab.
In his remarks, the chief justice Asif Saeed Khoosa said that issuance of fake CNIC one of the major crime as it can be used in money laundering and terrorism, however proving the fake NIC crime was the duty of NAB but he could not fulfill it. The chief justice said that NAB “It was NAB’s duty to prove the fraud”. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court admitted NAB’s appeals against bails granted to former land acquisition collector Amjad Sandhal and others.
It is pertinent to mention that the accountability court has awarded the 7-year sentence in jail to each accused but BHC set free them and the apex court has upheld the high court judgment.
