Defence analyst and former ISI Peshawar director Brigadier (retd) Asad Munir found dead in Islamabad as he reportedly committed suicide, police sources said. Brigadier (retd) Munir had served as a member estate of the CDA as well. NAB decided on March 14 to file a reference against him and several others for allegedly abusing their powers to restore a plot in F11, Islamabad while violating rules and regulations.
Commenting on the death, senior journalist Umar Cheema told local news channel that the deceased was deeply upset over the allegedly baseless case by NAB. In the note circulating on the social media and addressed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, he wrote that he was giving his life in the hope that the top judge of the country would bring positive changes in the system where incompetent people are playing with the life and honor of citizen in the name of accountability.
