Model girl Ayyan Ali on Tuesday (March 12) has moved Lahore High Court (LHC) against permanent arrest warrants issued by a Customs court on Saturday (March 9) in currency smuggling case. A permanent arrest warrant means that whenever she arrives in Pakistan, she will be arrested.
The model ion filed petition requested to dismiss warrants against her and sought permission to attend the hearings being conducted by customs court. “The accused has been provided a two month respite but she did not bother to appear before the court. It should be told whether the notice has been pasted at Ayyan’s residence or not. Bailable and non-bailable arrest warrants against her were also issued. She failed to appear despite incessant summons. The address given by her is of a private society in Karachi,” remarked the judge.
The case was lodged on March 14, 2015 after Ayyan was arrested at the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto International Airport while boarding a flight to the United Arab Emirates carrying $506,800 without the permission of the State Bank of Pakistan. She was later sent to jail and the government put her name on the Exit Control List (ECL). But the model subsequently left for Dubai after she was released on bail and a court ordered the removal of her name from the ECL.
