After the bail plea dismissal by Islamabad High Court, Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday (March 1) petitioned the Supreme Court of Pakistan against a decision by the Islamabad High Court rejecting his bail in Al-Azizia corruption reference.
Islamabad High Court (IHC) bench comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani on Monday (Feb 25) dismissed a bail petition filed by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on medical grounds in Al-Azizia reference case.
On February 20, a two-judge Islamabad High Court bench comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani reserved its verdict after hearing the PML-N founder’s petition to get his sentence suspended in the Al-Azizia case. A court in Islamabad on Dec 23 sentenced the former prime minister to seven years in prison following Al-Azizia steel mills reference while he has been acquitted in the Flagship Investment reference.
