A journalist named Hedait Hossain Molla working with famous Bangla Tribune and Probaho was arrested on Tuesday (Jan 1) for allegedly publishing “false” information about voting irregularities in eleventh general elections of the country. He was arrested under the Digital Security Act following an FIR by Khulna’s Assistant Returning Officer Debashish Chowdhury, senior police officer Mahbubur Rahman said.
As per details, he reported that in “Khulna 1 constituency, 22,419 more ballots were cast than the number of registered voters”, the Dhaka Tribune quoted the police as saying.
According to results of eleventh controversial general elections of Bangladesh, which were held yesterday (Dec 30) among high tensions in the country, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has secured a fourth term with a landslide victory in polls , local TV said. The elections was conducted amid deep violence as at least 17 people were killed in clashes after a bloody campaign overshadowed by a crackdown on the opposition by Hasina who is expected to win a historic but controversial fourth term.
