Balochistan Awami Party’s Manzoor Ahmed Kakar won the Senate seat from Balochistan by securing 38 votes in by-polls, held on Monday (Jan 14). Meanwhile his main competitor BNP-Mengal’s Ghulam Marri received 23 votes.
As per details, the seat was vacated after the death of of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party’s legislator Sardar Azam Musakhai on December 15, 2018. The polling was held from 9am to 4pm amid strict security measures, Strict security measures were taken at the assembly, where six people contested the election.
Balochistan Assembly has seven members, Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) has 24 members, and Balochistan National Party-Mengal has 10 members in the provincial house.
