The government on Saturday appointed Karachi-based Barrister Khalid Javed Khan as the new advocate general of Pakistan after Anwar Mansoor Khan tendered his resignation from the post, according to official notification.
According to the notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice, “The president is pleased to appoint Mr. Khalid Javed Khan as Attorney General of Pakistan with the rank and status of federal minister with immediate effect.”
The development was also confirmed by the Prime Minister’s special assistant for information and broadcasting, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved the appointment of Khalid Javed Khan as the new Attorney General. The Prime Minister directed the Law Ministry to send a summary for the appointment of Khalid Javed Khan.
It should be noted that the Pakistan Bar Council requested resignation from Anwar Mansoor Khan, following certain comments he had made regarding the judges of the Supreme Court, for whom he had also been reprimanded by the court.
