Planners of Paris 2024 have offered to include break dancingas a new sport in the Olympics.
As per the reposts, it’s one of four sports submitted for addition in the Games along with skateboarding, surfing and climbing.
The sports that have been recommended now will have to wait for a definitive approval by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), a decision that is due in December 2020.
An IOC representative said that the committee was contented with the suggestions as the members are looking forward to rejuvenate the aims of Olympics.
“We are pleased to see that Paris 2024’s proposal for new sports to the Olympic program is very much in line with the reforms of Olympic Agenda 2020, which is striving to make the Olympic program gender-balanced, more youth-focused and more urban,” as per the spokesman.
Break dancing debuted in the 2018 Youth Olympics that took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, still has to be involved in the full program.
The fresh contestants participated under nicknames, with Russia’s b-boy Bumblebee winning the men’s gold medal.
“Urban sport, universal and popular with more than one million B-Boys and B-Girls in France, we propose to bring break dance and its famous battles to the games,” according a tweet from Paris 2024.
Along with this, surfing, sport climbing and skateboarding will make their Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020 as extra events.
People also opted for the addition of Squash, chess and snooker as key games in Paris 2024 Olympic Games but were disappointed as the decision was announced.
