Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday (Nov 15) won two more senate seats from Punjab.
PTI’s Waleed Iqbal defeated PML-N’s Saud Majeed by securing 184 votes, while Majeed secured 176 votes. Seemi Aizdi, defeated PML-N’s strong candidate Saira Afzal Tarar and secured 183 votes while Tarar got 175 votes. A total of 358 votes were cast in the by-election.
Polling for the vacant Senate seats initiated at the Punjab Assembly building in Lahore at 9am and concluded at 4pm. The seats fell vacant after the verdict of Supreme Court disqualifying PML-N’s Saadia Abbasi, the sister of former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, and Haroon Akhtar over dual nationality.
