After major federal cabinet reshuffle, the reports were circulating that Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar will tender his resignation from his post but Sarwar on Wednesday (April 24) laid all rumors to rest and said that he was in no mood to resign as he had broader goals to achieve and many miles to go to fulfil the promises made by Prime Minister Imran Khan with the people of Pakistan.
Addressing a press conference at the Governor House, he said “Rumours about my resignation must die. Everyone, including myself, is working within the constitutional limits and all of us enjoy confidence of the prime minister”.
He made it clear that the chief executive of the province and enjoying all powers that his predecessors did. However, he announced to disassociate himself as Chairman from the Sarwar Foundation, a non-governmental organization (NGO) run by him and his wife Parveen Sarwar, in the wake of public criticism. “I will not take part in any fund-raising campaigns of the NGO as long as I am Governor of the province, my wife will look after affairs”, he added.
