Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa arrived at the Lord’s cricket ground on Sunday (June 23) to watch the most critical and must-win match between Pakistan and South Africa.
British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt and Lt-Gen Asif Ghafoor, the director-general of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) accompanied the Pakistan army chief to the cricket stadium. The army chief is in the United Kingdom on an official visit for meetings with senior British civil-military leadership.
In the ICC World Cup match, Pakistan beat South Africa by 49 runs, at Lords on Sunday (June 23). Batting first, Pakistan set a victory target of 309 for 7 in stipulated 50 overs. In reply, South Africa scored 259 runs for the loss of nine wickets in stipulated 50 overs.
