According to Cape Cobras coach Ashwell Prince, Fast bowler Dane Paterson who is a South African cricketer is negotiating a Kolpak deal to play county cricket in England.
Prince said that the 31 year old cricketer was in the final stages of concluding a deal with the unnamed county.
As per the sources, the fast bowler is in talks with Nottinghamshire county. He played in South Africa’s most recent 2 Test matches against England in January took 4 wickets at an average of 41.50. He also played 4 ODIs and 8 T20Is for South Africa.
If Paterson finalize a deal, he could be the last of many South Africans to benefit from the Kolpak deals which permits players from countries with trade deals with the European Union to play the sport in the EU without being classified as foreign players.
With UK having left the EU, Kolpak deals in England are due to expire at the end of the 2020 season, which has been suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic.
