29th death anniversary of Pakistan’s melodious queen Mala begum is being observed today (March 6). Mala (was a Pakistani playback singer of Urdu and Punjabi films. In the 1960s, Mala was a ‘hit pair for singing duet film songs’ with famous playback singer Ahmed Rushdi and they gave numerous hits to Pakistan film industry.
Mala was born in Faisalabad, her real name was Naseem Begum and she was younger sister of Pakistan’s first female music director Shamim Nazli. She died on March 6,1990. Mala started her career somewhere around late fifties but her real break came through Naila, the first West Pakistani color film.
