The death anniversary of Sir Haji Abdullah Haroon, an active member of the freedom movement is being observed today (April 27). He was among those personalities who spoke and endorsed the ‘Pakistan Resolution’ at the historic 27th Session of the Muslim League at Lahore on March 23, 1940.
Abdullah Haroon was born into Memon family. He lost his father at an early age and was raised by his grandmother who was a deeply religious lady. He took part in politics from 1910 and almost all political platforms such as Congress, Khilafat Tahreek and Muslim League.
Sir Abdullah Haroon was not only a great statesman but also one of the leading philanthropists of his time. He died in 1942. He contributed a lot towards developing and defining the role of Muslims in economic, educational, social and political fields in the Indian subcontinent. HE died on 27 April 1942 in Karachi.
