Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat on Sunday (Jan 20), while speaking to a press conference regarding Sahiwal shootout has said that deceased Zeeshan was connected with the terror organization, Daesh adding that Sahiwal operation was an intelligence-based operation conducted by the law enforcement authorities.
“Zeeshan was affiliated with Daesh. We got the confirmation on Jan 18 that he works with the terror organistaion,” he said, “Had we not stopped the terrorists, there could have been big devastation.” “We are not here to present charge sheet against anyone but there was a suicide jacket in the car which wasn’t worn by anyone,” he said. “There won’t be any compromise on the investigations.”
The minister said that the government has formed a committee which will ascertain the relationship between late Zeeshan and Khalil. The minister announced Rs20 million package to the family and said that an FIR has been registered as per the request of the family.
Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Saturday (Jan 19) claimed that four alleged terrorists, members of militant organisation, Daesh, including two women were shot dead, in an operation near GT Road, Sahiwal. Ten officials in uniform and six in plainclothes carried out the operation. they intercepted the vehicle and opened indiscriminate fire, resulting in the death of four persons. According to postmortem report, the deceased driver, Zeeshan, received 10 bullets while the children’s father, Khaleel, was shot 13 times and mother, Nabeela Bibi, received four bullets while 13-year-old Areeba was shot six times. The CTD officials involved in the alleged extrajudicial killing were taken into custody on the orders of Punjab chief minister Usman Buzdar, a CM House spokesperson said on Saturday.
