The 54th Defence Day of Pakistan is being celebrated today all over the country with pledges to defend the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Pakistan at all cost.
The day began with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salutes in the provincial capitals. Special prayers were also offered after Fajr prayers for the independence of occupied Kashmir as well as for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan, Radio Pakistan reported.
The main ceremony for Defence Day was held at the General Headquarters in Rawal¬pindi, where Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa laid a wreath at the Martyrs Monument and observed a guard of honour.
Change of Guard Ceremony Held at Iqbal’s Mausoleum
Maj Gen Muhammad Aamir laid a wreath on Iqbal’s mausoleum.
A prestigious change of guard ceremony was held here on Friday at “poet of the East” Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s mausoleum in connection with Defence Day.
A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army clad assumed ceremonial guard duties with traditional spirit and enthusiasm.
Major General Muhammad Amir was the chief guest on the occasion as a contingent of Pakistan Army took the guards duties at the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal.
Change of Guard Ceremony Held at Quaid’s Mausoleum
Change of guard ceremony was held at the mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah in Karachi on the occasion of “Defence Day”.
A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Air Force Asghar Khan Academy cadets assumed ceremonial guard duty at the mausoleum with traditional spirit and customary enthusiasm to mark the Defence Day.
A floral wreath was laid by the chief guest Air Vice Marshal Hamid Rashid Randhawa. Later on, the chief guest offered Fateha and recorded his remarks in the visitor book
This year, the Defence Day is being observed as a day to express solidarity with oppressed people of occupied Kashmir. Prime Minister Imran Khan is also expected to visit the families of martyred soldiers today, suggest reports.
Kashmir Solidarity Rallies are also planned in different cities to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people facing atrocities of Indian security forces in the occupied valley. Since Aug 5, residents of the occupied valley have been living under strict military curfew.
