The controversial TV personality and PTI MAN from Karachi is likely to face an inquiry on tweets made against federal minister Ali Zaidi and special assistant to PM Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan. PM Imran Khan who is also the chairman of PTI directed his special assistant on political affairs Naeem ul Haq to conduct an inquiry against Dr. Aamir Liaqat. He might face a disciplinary action after the inquiry
The PM initiated the inquiry after Aamir Liaquat lashed out at Firdous Ashiq Awan and Ali Zaidi during television interviews and also on micro blogging site Twitter. He is not happy with PTI Karachi including Ali Zaidi for ignoring him in decision making process. He expressed his anger through the TV channel where he started his news show. He wanted to become either the president or the secretary general of PTI Karachi which was opposed by senior PTI leaders. He was considered for any political, government or party position in last one year. He was elected from NA-245 (Karachi East-IV) in the general election 2018 after defeating senior MQM leader Dr. Farooq Sattar.
The MNA said he was happy about un- following Firdous Awan on Twitter and criticised the de-facto information minister for “nonsense” statements which he claimed contravened PM Imran’s directives. Listing specific incidents, Liaquat also accused her of turning a blind eye to irregularities in the affairs of Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV).
The Karachi-based law maker’s issue with Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi was related to the latter’s recent cleanliness drive in the port city. In a television interview, Liaquat said Zaidi and other party members did not consult with him before launching a campaign in Karachi. He said he was willing to play his part in the uplift of Karachi but was being ignored by the PTI leadership. He said no senior party member, including PM Imran, had reached out to him even after he aired his grievances.
He is not seems on good terms with old guard of the party. He is not happy over the treatment meted out to him. In August last year, Liaquat left a PTI Whatsapp group, made for communication between the party’s lawmakers, after being snubbed from a meeting held at the Governor House in Karachi. A month later, he was barred from meeting Imran Khan during the premier’s one-day visit to Karachi. He even threatened to resign as MAN. But he changed his mind after meeting with PM Imran Khan in Islamabad. He was also the candidate to become federal minister in PM Imran Khan’s cabinet.
Dr. Aamir Liaqat is not happy with senior Karachi leaders because they don’t take him seriously in political and organisational matters. In his tweets against Firdous Awan and Ali Zaidi, he expressed his frustration and anger.
