Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan urged the opposition to avoid undue criticism and support the government in resolving the national issues. Talking to a private news channel, she said both the government and the opposition are equally responsible to run the affairs of parliament smoothly.
She said the government does not want any confrontation with the opposition parties and would take them into confidence to further improve the 18th Amendment. Awan said it was a constitutional prerogative of the government to appoint a minister or head of any organization. She said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government has not committed any wrong for approaching the International Monitory Fund as the previous regimes had also got IMF’s bailout packages to improve the national economy.
Earlier Awan had said that the government does not want any clash with opposition adding that the opposition should play a constructive role and avoid agitation. She asked the opposition to come into the Parliament with useful suggestions and recommendations as it was the best forum to resolve issues. Information advisers’ statements are very positive in a sense that Pakistan is really in needs that opposition and governments should be on same page at some extent.
