After opposition’s demand, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has ordered daily hearing of the foreign funding case against the Imran Khan led Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).
The development came a day after opposition’s Rehbar Committee on Wednesday (Nov 20) submitted an application, asking the ECP to decide the case before the expiry of the chief election commissioner’s term next month.
While talking to media outside ECP, PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal said that Prime Minister Imran Khan gained funding in the name of PTI. “There are several unnamed accounts which were not declared in ECP. This is the worst corruption scandal in the history of Pakistan,” he said. Ahsan Iqbal further stated that government is trying its best to postpone this case as Election Commissioner is retiring next month.
“It is the duty of Election Commissioner to bring this case to its end. There should be an open trail of PTI just like open investigations were conducted against PML-N,” he added. Chief of Rahbar Committee, Akram Durrani said that it is the demand of all political parties that the hearings of the case should be done on daily basis.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Imran Khan on November 20 assured fellow party leaders not to worry about the foreign funding case against the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) ordered hearing of the case on a day-to-day basis. So, is there indeed something that happens to be daunting for the PTI regarding the case? Prime Minister Imran Khan claims that the Pakstan Tehreek e Insaf’s funds have already gone through rigorous audits and the relevant proofs have already made their way to the courts.
