A three-member bench of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has summoned a reply from the PML-N on a petition seeking to remove Maryam Nawaz Sharif as a vice-president of the party.
During the hearing, Chief Election Commissioner asked about the replies of PML-N and Maryam Nawaz over which, defence lawyer Barrister Zafarullah demanded to provide copies of plea and appointment notification. The PTI lawyer said that PML-N counsel is asking for the hiring letter’s copy from us when his party appointed Maryam as vice president.
The hearing was adjourned till June 25.
The petition was submitted by PTI leaders Farrukh Habib, Maleeka Bokhari, Kanwal Suazab and Javeria Zafar. It states that Maryam Nawaz’s appointment as PML-N vice president is in contradiction with the constitution and law of the land. The petition further states that Maryam Nawaz is ineligible to hold any political or public office.
