England have defeated the unbeaten Indian side after a thrilling encounter in the 38th match of the Cricket World Cup 2019 to keep their semi-final hopes alive.
In a match played between hosts England and unbeaten Indian side at Birmingham England by batting first set up a target of 338 runs in 50 overs, while Indian side could only manage to score 306 runs on the loss of five wickets. India’s started its chase in a devastating manner and lost its crucial wicket on a score of just eight runs.
Later on, Indian skipper Kohli by playing a sensible inning formed a partnership of 138 runs with Rohit Sharma. Virat returned to the pavilion by scoring 66 runs on a total of 146 runs.
Earlier, English team by winning the toss opted to bat first in an aggressive style as and Jonny Bairstow provided a brilliant opening performance of 160 runs. Roy returned to the pavilion by scoring 66 runs. Bairstow remained on the crease and went out to complete his century and returned to the dressing room by scoring unbeaten innings of 111 runs.
England’s other key performers were Root  and Ben Stokes .
England by formidable partnerships of its batting lineup set up a target of 337 runs on the loss of seven wickets.
This victory has opened up a way for the English side while made it difficult for struggling Pakistani team to pave a way into the semis.
