Social media platform Facebook has decided to remove pro-soleimani content.
All content published to support Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani will be removed from Facebook. The decision has been taken in accordance with the US sanctions imposed on the Iranian Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC).
Facebook spokesman informed an international news agency: “We operate under the sanctions laws of the United States, including those related to the designation of the United States government of the IRGC and its leadership.”
It should be remembered that the US had declared IRGC a terror group last year in April. Facebook had blocked the accounts of several Iranian generals. Facebook had also blocked the Instagram account of Qassem Soleimani. Note that social media platforms are banned in Iran except for Instagram. People use these social media forums through Virtual Private Networks (VPNs).
