Finally the wait is over and cricket fans are super excited to witness historic test match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka after a longs period of ten years. Sri Lanka has won the toss and decided to bat first against Pakistan.
Unfortunately, International cricket of the five-day Test format was disappeared from Pakistan since an attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team bus in Lahore back in 2009 that resulted in injuries to several touring players.
The Sri Lankan team had agreed to play a Test series in Pakistan after the successful staging of One-Day and T20 internationals in the country earlier this year. The Test series runs from December 11-23. Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne said it was now time to bring Test cricket back to Pakistan.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has also forecast rain in the city from Thursday to Saturday, meaning the second, third and fourth day of the Test is likely to be affected by rain.
On the other hand Pakistan is likely to make three changes, after their innings defeat in the second and last match against Australia at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide, for the first Test against Sri Lanka at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi. Opener Abid Ali is expected to debut as the management looks to tweak its lineup to tackle the Islanders at home in the longer format.
