The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to launch a campaign to fight smuggling in local markets.
To curb the smuggling of goods, the FBR ordered the establishment of teams composed of officials from the Intelligence and Customs Investigation Branch and the Tax Administration.
These teams will examine export products in shopping malls and local markets.
According to the Revenue board, the crackdown will begin on 1 September. The FBR notice also indicates that merchants will be invited to submit export product documentation during the verification process.
In case of unavailability of documents, the merchant will have enough time to give his answer on this matter.
Collective teams of Customs officials will oversee the process as per FBR instructions.
