Federal Cabinet meeting headed by Prime Minister Imran Khan will take final decision regarding removal of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s name from Exit Control List (ECL).
The meeting will be held at 11 o’clock in the morning while a seven-point agenda will come under discussion. The federal cabinet will also discuss the matter of Azadi March and suspension of talks between JUI-F and the government negotiation committee.
The Interior Ministry has sent the matter of the removal of Nawaz Sharif’s name from the exit control list (ECL) to the sub-committee of the federal cabinet. Sources said that the federal cabinet’s sub-committee has the authority to remove his name from the ECL. Federal Minister for Law Farogh Naseem heads the sub-committee.
Earlier, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday (Nov 11) stated that authority to remove the name of Nawaz Sharif from Exit Control List (ECL) rests with Interior Ministry and the Cabinet Committee. The anti-graft watchdog maintained that it would accept whatever decision taken by competitive authority in this regard. The officials of NAB further added that its jurisdiction is valid within the boundaries of the country. They added that NAB had not opposed Nawaz’s pleas because of medical reasons.
The officials further added that NAB has not yet received medical reports of the ailing Nawaz and that anti-graft watchdog would take any decision after reviewing the reports of Nawaz Sharif.
