In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, doctors have ended their strike after successful talks with the provincial government in Peshawar. According to details, two committees will be constituted to look into the grievances of doctors.
The first committee comprising members of the government and doctors, will review the proposed reforms in the health department. The other committee will conduct an inquiry into the alleged manhandling of a doctor by provincial health minister and his security guards.
The whole controversy was started after Provincial Health Minister Dr. Hisham Khan and his guard allegedly tortured an Assistant Professor of Khyber Teaching Hospital. The incident took place during a meeting of the hospital board of governor.
The KP Doctors Council had demanded to register a First Information Report (FIR) against the provincial health minister. As per reports, Dr. Ziauddin and Health Minister exchanged harsh words during a meeting of the Hospital Board and minister started beating the doctor. The doctor was severely beaten, who was admitted to emergency ward of the hospital after sustaining injuries.
