In France, a major fire has engulfed the historical medieval Cathedral of Notre-Dame in Paris. According to French officials, the fire fighters, who are still working to contain the fire, are trying to salvage the artwork stored inside the building.
As per the latest news, the spire and roof of the 850-year-old Gothic building have collapsed but the main structure including the two bell towers, has been saved. Firefighters are still working to contain the blaze as teams try to salvage the artwork stored inside.
“The worst has been avoided, but the battle isn’t fully won yet,” French President Emmanuel Macron said in a statement outside of the cathedral. “We will rebuild the cathedral together,” Macron said, adding that France will start an international fundraising campaign to raise money for the renovations.
