Controversial TV personality, former state minister of religious affairs and MQM lawmaker is furious with PTI Karachi leadership for refusing him party ticket. Aamir Liaquat Hussain is disappointed on not being allotted a ticket by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to contest the 2018 general elections from Karachi.
Aamir Liaquat, who joined PTI earlier this year, tweeted on Sunday that he has been refused a ticket by PTI’s Karachi leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi. He is keen to contest elections from Karachi but other PTI leaders are not in his favour. After his furious reaction, the Karachi PTI referred this matter to the PTI chairman Imran Khan to make the final decision on his ticket.
He also warned the PTI workers against misbehaving with him, asking them to ‘remain in their limit’ on social media. “The issue is not just about the ticket, but Karachi city’s political awareness … I do not even desire the ticket. I only referred to it due to the [PTI] chairman’s pursuance,” he added.
One thing is clear that he may quit the PTI if not awarded party ticket. He quit MQM in 2016 when he was arrested by the Sindh Rangers. He announced to quit politics after his release from Ranger’s custody.
He is one of the most controversial figures in the media industry. PEMRA banned him hosting his shows on the news channels several times for making derogatory remarks and hate speeches.
