Former chief minister Sindh and senior leader of PPP who is contesting elections for two provincial assembly seats on PPP ticket strongly reacted to the claim made by the FIA that Shah is Canadian national. Syed Murad Ali Shah made it clear on his social media account that he was a Canadian citizen but withdraw his Canadian citizenship in 2013. He has produced the copy of Canadian renunciation certificate on his social media account.
While sharing renunciation certificate, in his tweet, former CM Sindh said; “For all those who have blindly accepted an outdated list of dual nationals released by FIA, here is my renunciation certificate. Also, I have been cleared by the honourable Supreme Court of all objections previously raised. Sad how things are flashed without proper verification!”
He is not happy that FIA without any verification released the old list of dual nationality holders. The FIA make it clear while submitting the list to election commission that the list is old and unverified. But media flashed the names of the well-known politicians without any verification.
It is pertinent to mention here that when Murad Ali Shah contested the election from his native Sehwan constituency his candidature was challenged on the basis of dual nationality basis. But he was cleared from all allegations and allowed to contest the elections. The old issue resurfaced because of FIA list.
The FIA is a prime investigation agency of the country and it should have properly investigated the matter before submitting the list to the election commission. The outdated and unverified list got a lot of media attention.
