WARSAW – Google is going to spend up to $ 2 billion in cloud infrastructure at a data center in Poland, Puls Biznesu said.
Investment news follows Microsoft’s announcement in May that it will invest $1 billion in a Polish data center as the largest economy in the eastern wing of the European Union is trying to position itself as a regional technology hub.
Google Cloud Region in Warsaw is Poland’s largest investment in this type of infrastructure,” said Magdalena Dziewguc, Google Cloud’s director of business development in Poland and Central and Eastern Europe.
“We are getting ready to make it operational in early 2021.”
Poland’s deputy prime minister, Jadwiga Emilewicz, told the paper she expected Google could invest $1.5 billion to $2 billion in the project.
