Gossip Girl, the show that has become a phenomenon of youth culture with its fashion-driven fashion and chronicle of the romantic life of elite teens in New York, is back on television, this time in a new series for the next HBO Max video streaming service.
HBO Max, owned by WarnerMedia, said on Tuesday it has ordered a new series of 10 episodes, eight years after the end of Gossip Girl’s career in 2012, which will follow a new generation of kids from private schools.
There was no words on the release or if any of the original stars, including Blake Lively, Penn Badgely, Chace Crawford and Leighton Meester, would come back.
HBO Max said the new series will explore how social networks and the New York landscape have changed in recent years.
Gossip Girl has spent six seasons in CW’s youth network, becoming one of the most popular TV shows, winning 18 Teen Choice Awards and inspiring fashions, hairstyles and lines of beauty.
