Finance Minister Asad Umar finally responds to opposition about inclusion of new taxes in mini budget which was presented on Wednesday (Jan 23), and gave clarification by saying that government has not announced any new amnesty scheme and no new tax imposed in recent budget.
“Pakistan is a sovereign country, we won’t take anyone’s dictation,” the minister said in a post-budget press conference. “The alarm bell is not ringing anymore.” He also claimed that new budget has been presented to stable the economy of country adding that government has intensified the tax collection on people with foreign properties. “A perception is built that the government failed in talks before we even conclude our visit.”
“People with unannounced foreign estate will have to give money trail,” he said.”Changes never seen before will be seen in this parliament’s tenure. In three-week time the stock exchange hit 3000 indexes.” Earlier opposition leaders have totally rejected the mini budget because according to their opinion presented budget has no relief for lay man of the Pakistan.
