The Rawalpindi administration and police have denied Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) permission to hold a rally at Liaquat Bagh on December 27. PPP is scheduled to observe former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto’s 12th death anniversary – and requested the management to provide security.
It has been learnt that the district administration refused to give permission to PPP to carry out the rally due security risks as party’s central leadership was expected to attend the gathering.
On the other hand, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday (Dec 23) announced not to appear before the NAB on December 24 and said that the government was coercing him into not observing the death anniversary of the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
“I always presented myself before the law enforcement agencies. But the way this govt want to run the machinery will only inflict loss”, Bilawal was quoted as saying.
Bilawal urged judiciary to defend basic human rights of the masses and politicians. “Govt is doing nothing but incarcerating leaders of the opposition parties”, Bilawal was quoted as saying. “Has any single minister of KPK received notice over irregularities in Peshawar BRT Project”, inquired Bilawal while adding, “PPP cannot be pressurized.”
