The government has decided to introduce electric buses to cope with the issue of air pollution. This was stated by PTI’s Information Secretary Ahmad Jawad in a statement on Friday.
He said bids will be opened for award of contracts for the renewable energy projects. He said the stock market is also witnessing bullish trend due to economic stability. Ahmad Jawad said round the clock opening of Torkham border has increased our exports to Afghanistan by sixty four percent. The Information Secretary said Punjab government will build two small dams in South Punjab.
Earlier, the federal cabinet has approved an electric vehicle (EV) policy for Pakistan. The aim is to increase the number of electric cars on the road, put a dent in the oil import bill and control air pollution.
After several months of complications and dealing with various challenges, the policy has now been given a green light by the federal cabinet. This policy will improve the situation in Pakistan drastically. The policy will allow affordable transportation as the cost of running electric vehicles was much lower than that of vehicles on petrol, Condensed Natural Gas (CNG) or other fuel. More than 3,000 CNG stations, which are not operational due to gas shortage, could be converted into EV charging stations. Many Jobs will be created as a result of the new industry, CNG station owners might be able to restart their failing businesses .
