The 69th birth anniversary of Pakistan television’s renowned actor, director, producer, singer, writer and comedian Moin Akhtar is being observed today (Dec 24).
Akhter was born in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. He started his acting career as stage actor at the age 16 years. Moin Akhtar’s love for cinema and television won him numerous recognitions nationally and internationally.
Akhter acted in several films, sitcoms and dramas, and hosted many TV talk shows in his career. He became a worldwide icon through his screen persona “Rosy” and is considered one of the most important figures in the history of the film industry of the sub continent. His career spanned more than 45 years, from childhood in the Radio Pakistan era of modern film making until a year before his death in 2011.
Internationally acclaimed and one of the best comedian country has ever produced, Moin Akhtar was a recipient of the highest civil honours a government and a country could confer on a person. He received the Pride of Performance and Sitara-e-Imtiaz besides undying love of millions of his fans and admirers, living all over the world.
He died on 22 April 2011 in Karachi after suffering a heart attack. He was survived by his wife, three daughters and two sons.
