The diseases like TB, high blood pressure, hyper tension and Hepatitis are on the rise in Pakistan. The hyper tension and high blood pressure are contributing in a big way in the rise of cardiac arrests. Heart attacks are taking lives of people on daily basis. This problem has increased to unprecedented level as young teenagers now suffering from this problem.
According to experts, almost 25 percent of the Pakistani adult population suffers from hyper tension or high blood pressure. This puts them at risks of cardiac disease, stroke and a host of other ailments. Doctors warn that even children as young as 15 years old are being detected with raised blood pressure. This number can further increase if medical facilities provided to wider sections of population. Very few people go to the doctors for regular medical tests.
There is lack of health awareness and consciousness to reduce the risk of ailment and diseases. There is greater need of launching a country wide health awareness campaign to spread awareness about the prevention of diseases to live a healthy life. We need to focus more on the prevention of diseases and ailment. At the moment, our attention is focused mostly on cure.
Experts also warn that of those suffering hypertension 50 percent are based in urban centers. This could of course be because those in cities are more likely to visit a clinic or medical facility, but also because exercise may be more limited in cities especially for those doing office jobs. They work on their desks for longer hours without much movement. These people need regular exercise and walk.
Doctors say that the lack of exercise, consumption of unhealthy foods including fried items and other conditions of life contribute to the rising rates of high blood pressure in Pakistan. Some people don’t consider high or low blood pressure as a serious life threatening disease. This approach is completely wrong and put the life in danger. The problem also is that, especially in its earliest stages when treatment can be most effective, the disease produces virtually no symptoms. It however continues to damage organs in the body.
High blood pressure and sugar are considered as silent killers by the medical experts. It can damage the vital organs of the body silently. One needs to control the sugar and high blood pressure on daily basis.
The only solution to the problem is to run a campaign designed to inform ordinary people across the country about the need to get blood pressure checked at regular intervals. Lifestyle changes such as controlling weight and diet can also help keep the ailment under check.
People need to be informed about this and basic medical care facilities offered at centers everywhere in the country, especially in far-flung areas, so that more people can easily discover the problem and attain treatment that they need. Treating high blood pressure is far easier than treating the ill effects it can cause in the longer run, which makes it imperative that we set out on a mission to prevent the problem and educate people about the risks it poses to their health.
The PTI government should launch a nationwide health awareness campaign to aware the young people to adopt healthy life styles. The healthy food and regular walks and light exercise help to avoid ailment and to keep it under control. Special attention need to be given on prevention. The media can also play important role in this awareness campaign. Such health and prevention campaign is the need of hour.
