The transfer of Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kaleem Imam, has become a headache for the Prime Minister Imran Khan led PTI government as the federal cabinet once again postponed the transfer and handed over the matter to Governor Sindh Imran Ismail and Chief Minsiter Sindh Murad Ali Shah.
Meeting of the federal cabinet that was held in Islamabad on Tuesday (Jan 28) with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the chair discussed overall political and economic situation of the country.
During the meeting, federal cabinet members belonging to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and coalition partner Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) expressed concerns over the issue of Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) transfer. Sources said that the government members from Sindh also expressed concerns over IG Sindh issue following which it was decided to further consult Sindh governor and chief minister for finalising the IGP appointment.
Earlier, following quite a while of debate over the appointment of the Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Federal and the Sindh government have consented to move the occupant IGP, Dr Kaleem Imam, and designate another police chief to supplant him.
The choice was made during a gathering between Prime Minister Imran Khan and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah at the Governor House in Karachi on Jan 27, Monday.
