Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday ordered Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera to be reinstated to his post of federal tax ombudsman. According to details, the decision to reinstate Sukhera was announced by IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah.
Earlier the Federal tax ombudsman Mushtaq Sukhera was removed from his position on June 13 by the government, according to a notification issued. The notification was issued by the minister for law and justice after approval from President Arif Alvi. Sukhera held the tax ombudsman position since 2017. Prior to this position, he was the former Punjab inspector general police (IGP).
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led federal government had prepared a reference against the former IGP Punjab for his alleged failure to avert the 2014 tragedy in Lahore’s Model Town. The government had forwarded the reference to the Law Ministry.
