The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday dismissed the petition to enlist the name of former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf from Exit Control List (ECL).
The reserved decision announced by the IHC on Friday. The court said in its four-page verdict that he is facing hearing of several references and few cases are also under trial in trial courts. “The trial courts which are hearing the cases against Raja Pervez Ashraf only those courts can enlist his name from ECL.
Former Prime Minister of Pakistan and senior leader of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Raja Pervaiz Ashraf have been indicted in Reshma Rental Power Plant and Gulf Power Generation Company Limited cases.
Ashraf is accused of misusing his authority during his tenure as the minister for water and power to get approval from the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) for an increase in the down payment to the rental power companies from 7 to 14 per cent, amounting to about Rs22 billion.
