Imran Khan led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf government is passing through a difficult time as our economy is near to collapse, threat of opposition’s millions march, criticism on major cabinet reshuffle and even a long list of such other problems. PM Khan seems to be not prepared with back up plans to overcome this poor situation of the country. Now PM Imran have to react responsibly to the demands of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz, which were made by senators and the National Assembly members (MNAs) belonging to the opposition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Monday (April 29).
Before making any opinion lets have a look on the demands;
Cabinet reshuffle and IMF Package
Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sudden and shocking decision of major cabinet reshuffle has raised many questions and doubts in not only the minds of opposition but a lay man is also curious to know about the reasons behind this reshuffle. So the PML-N’s first demand for Prime Minister Imran Khan is to explain the reason behind reshuffling with immediate effect.
The list of demands also includes that Imran Khan should tell the actions taken against national interests by the ministers sacked in the recent cabinet reshuffle. They demanded that PM Khan must explain the reasons for the cabinet reshuffle and the terms and conditions for the IMF bailout package on the floor of the house. IMF bailout package is considered to be one of the major reasons of to remove Finance Minister Asad Umar.
Pakistan, with 208 million people, is running out of domestic gas and has turned to liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports to alleviate chronic energy shortages that have hindered its economy and led to a decade of electricity blackouts. The government is likely to strike a long-term gas supply agreement with Qatar in the coming weeks to deal with Pakistan’s chronic energy shortage. They further demanded that the premier should brief the parliament on the conditions of the LNG deal. They meeting stressed that the government should explain the reasons for tampering with gas bills to which it has already conceded.
Hike in Medicine Prices
Sudden and shocking hike in medicine prices is another burning and major question, which was raised by the PML-N and the said that PM should fix responsibility on the former minister who was responsible for hyper inflation in prices of all medicines and explain why such an inhuman anti-people step was taken.
No doubt government took immediate steps to resolve this matter but not an effective action has been taken yet.
Increase in salaries
The PML-N has demanded an immediate increase in salaries of public and private employees before Ramazan in view of the inflation. It will be a very tough task for the government of Pakistan to fulfill this demand as our economy is not in a condition to bear such blunt decisions.
National Action Plan
Continuous delay in National Action Plan which includes crack down on terrorism and to supplement the ongoing anti-terrorist offensive in North-Western Pakistan, has given a chance to the opposition to criticize the governments; policies, so PML-N demanded that the entire parliament be briefed on the National Action Plan as soon as possible without further delay.
Nawaz Sharif’s medical needs
Nawaz Sharif’s health has become a major political issue as PML-N is continuously demanding that Nawaz Sharif should be allowed to travel abroad for medical check up but government seems to not in mood. The party called for releasing Nawaz Sharif so that his emergency medical needs could be addressed.
The meeting expressed solidarity with Khawaja Saad Rafique, Khawaja Salman Rafique, Kamran Michael, Hafiz Nauman, Fawad Hassan Fawad and Ahad Cheema who were in NAB’s custody.
