Prime Minister Imran Khan said while speaking to a select group of media persons at his residence in Islamabad said a treason case should be charged against JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman under Article 6 of the Constitution for conspiring to topple the government.
Prime Minister said “Maulana had himself said he had come to topple the government and he had been given a signal to topple the government. We want to know who had given him such signals?”
On the other hand, the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, Shahbaz Sharif, criticized Prime Minister Khan for having suggested the establishment of a treason case against Maulana Fazl.
Earlier this week, the JUI-F chief said he had terminated his move to Azadi march because he had been assured that Prime Minister Khan would resign and that elections would take place within three months. However, he did not specify where the insurance came from.
Anti-Government Protests: Maulana Fazl Announced
Maulana Fazl ur Rehman said the JUI-F and its allied parties will hold a public gathering on February 23 in Karachi, in Islamabad on March 1 and March 19 in Lahore.
